Permanent Cosmetics - by Roxanne Gloria
About Us

The American Micropigmentation Academy (AMA) was founded in 1992, with the goal of providing a quality education to each student. Through the years, the Permanent Cosmetic Industry has grown in popularity ... and so has the number of unscrupulous people who want to make a fast buck. A flood of 2 or 3 day "crash-course" schools and a barrage of wannabe trainers have sprung up everywhere, hearding in dozens of students at a time. This kind of poor training gives rise to ill-equipped technicians who create permanent mistakes and not Permanent Cosmetic enhancements.

Roxanne Gloria, Brenda Gloria, and Rosalie Gloria realized it was time for the Permanent Cosmetics Industry to go to the next level. On January 2, 2001, the Academy moved into its spacious 3,300 square foot facility, as these ladies decided to actively move forward and break new ground in setting high standards in order to assure that new Technicians receive a Quality Education.
The American Micropigmentation Academy (AMA) is the only Training Academy in San Antonio, Texas with a Board Certified Instructor, who is also an Approved Trainer by the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP) and also by the American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM). Roxanne's list of credentals speak for themselves. In addition, Brenda has served as Roxanne's Assistant Instructor in her Basic, Advanced and Paramedical classes and brings her own list of credentals and expertise to the AMA.
The maximum number of students allowed in each class is four. Whenever the class load reaches 3 or 4 students, there are two instructors present during the hands-on phases of instruction. Roxanne and Brenda have been training for many years, and believe it is important to have a balance of both theoretical concepts and practical hands-on training.  When a good balance is achieved, the student is able to leave feeling confident, because they understand what to do in each procedure (hands on) - and - they understand the reasoning behind the various decisions they need to make for design considerations, color selection, client management, and so forth.  In a nutshell, they know how to think through the various situations that will arise with each individual client. After all, isn't that the goal?  To function independently? Of course!  This is the type of well-rounded training we offer at AMA
Although Roxanne and Brenda offer a year of technical support to each graduate, we find that most students don't need to ask a lot of questions.  This is because our training program has been well organized and designed to teach each student the foundational concepts that they will use each day in their own permanent cosmetics business. The way we accomplish this is by utilizing a building process.  The first step is to lay a foundation before you come to class. This is done by providing each student with a training manual and homework to help you study and learn the basics of dealing with bloodborne pathogens, aseptic technique, Health department regulations, and other topics. Plan to study approximately 20-40 hours.  The homework is due on the first day of training.  When you are here, we begin to build upon the foundation that was laid, and each day of training builds on what you have learned the day before.  There will be a quiz scheduled each day, to help your trainer to assess your strengths and weaknesses. Your trainer will work with you to tackle the weak areas, and give you feedback on how to overcome them. Each evening you will have homework to complete as well.  Each day is intense and very focused, so it's important that you don't plan any tourist activities until after your training is complete.
All of our past students leave feeling quite exhausted, but good about the training they have received.  We've trained physicians, nurses, beauty professionals, homemakers, as well as men and women in their 20's, 30's 40's and 50's.... people from all walks of life...  we look forward to working with you as well.
